Poople is a short daily word ladder with one deliberately silly finish line: POOP. You begin with the day’s four-letter starting word, then build a chain of real words until you reach the target. The destination is never a mystery; the puzzle is finding a clean route to it.
Unlike a hidden-word puzzle, every row matters. A word can be perfectly valid and still send you away from a useful next move. A completed route counts, but fewer steps make for a stronger solve.
How to play Poople
Read the starting word. Each day begins from a visible four-letter word.
Change one letter only. Your next word must differ from the previous word in exactly one position.
Keep it a real word. Every step has to be an accepted four-letter English word.
Reach POOP efficiently. Continue the ladder until it spells POOP, aiming for the fewest moves you can find.
Poople rules at a glance
Rule
What it means
Four letters
Every word in the chain has four letters.
One change
Only one letter may change from one row to the next.
Valid words
A made-up spelling cannot be used as a shortcut.
Fixed target
Every puzzle ends at POOP; the daily starting word changes.
Shortest route
You can finish with any valid chain, but a shorter chain is the better result.
Plan the route from both ends
Start by comparing the current word with POOP. Any matching letter already in the same position is worth protecting when possible. Then think one move ahead: a word that fixes a letter is helpful only if it also leaves you with another real word to play next.
Working backwards is useful too. Common near-target shapes such as POOR, LOOP, and GOOP suggest possible final steps. You do not need to force one of them immediately; they are landmarks that can help you judge whether a route is getting warmer or turning into a dead end.
If two candidate words are available, prefer the one that keeps more options open. A flexible middle word is often better than a dramatic-looking move that leaves no valid one-letter change afterwards.
A simple example route
Here is a small example independent of the daily board:
DOOR→POOR→POOP
DOOR becomes POOR by changing D to P. Then POOR becomes POOP by changing R to P. Both moves change exactly one letter, so the route reaches the target in two guesses.
A six-move solve, step by step
This is a real solve from our board: CAPE → CAKE → CAME → CAMP → COMP → COOP → POOP. It does not take the shortest possible path for every starting word; it shows how one-letter changes can keep the ladder moving toward the fixed target.
CAPE → CAKE. The first move changes only the third letter, P to K.CAKE → CAME. Swapping K for M creates another valid word while keeping C, A, and E.CAME → CAMP. Changing the final letter makes CAMP, a useful bridge toward the target pattern.CAMP → COMP. The second letter becomes O, giving the route two letters in the same positions as POOP.COMP → COOP → POOP. First change M to O, then C to P to finish the ladder.
If you have worked through the possibilities and are genuinely stuck, a poople solver can show valid one-letter continuations from your current word. It is most useful as a way to learn why a route works after trying the puzzle yourself.
