A daily five-letter word game

Wordle Games are built around a short, focused challenge: find a hidden five-letter word before your six guesses run out. Start with any valid word, read the color clues, and use each new row to narrow the possible answer. The puzzle is quick to learn, but a strong finish depends on choosing useful letters and paying attention to position.

The player above provides the familiar five-letter guessing format. It is hosted by a third-party provider; Horsle.org does not operate that game, and its availability, rules, privacy practices, and terms are controlled by that provider.

How to play Wordle Games

  1. Enter a valid five-letter word and submit it as your first guess.
  2. Read the colors on the row to see which letters are correct, misplaced, or absent.
  3. Use that information to make a stronger next guess without wasting turns on ruled-out letters.
  4. Find the hidden word within six tries to finish the round.

Wordle Game rules

Every submitted guess must be a valid five-letter word. After each try, the tiles give feedback about the letters in your guess.

Tile colorWhat it means
GreenThe letter is in the hidden word and already in the correct position.
YellowThe letter belongs in the hidden word, but it needs a different position.
GreyThe letter is not part of the hidden word for that round.

When a word contains a repeated letter, read the whole row before deciding how many copies belong in the answer. One colored tile can confirm a letter without proving that it appears twice.

Wordle tips

  • Start broad. Use an opening word with several common letters instead of repeating one letter immediately.
  • Use every color. Green letters stay put, yellow letters need a new spot, and grey letters should usually leave your next guess.
  • Test, then solve. Early guesses can collect information; later guesses should focus on the word pattern you have built.
  • Check doubles deliberately. Do not rule out a repeated letter just because one copy is grey or assume two copies from one colored tile.

A four-guess solve, step by step

Here is one completed board from a real play session. Each guess turned the color feedback into a smaller set of possible words, ending with BORAX on the fourth row.

First Wordle board row: SOARE, with O green, A and R yellow, and S and E grey.
1. Start with SOARE. O is fixed in the second position. A and R are in the answer but need new positions, while S and E can be set aside.
Second Wordle board row: ROMAL, with O and A green, R yellow, and M and L grey.
2. Try ROMAL. O and A now have fixed positions. R is still useful but cannot lead the word, and M and L do not help.
Third Wordle board row: BORAK, with B, O, R, and A green and K grey.
3. Narrow the pattern. BORAK locks the first four letters into B-O-R-A. Only the final letter remains unresolved.

4. Finish with BORAX. With the pattern visible, the last guess completes the word in four tries.

When a board is narrowed but not obvious, a wordle helper can filter candidate words from the green, yellow, and grey clues. Use it as a check on the remaining pattern, not as a replacement for reading the board.
